Recent Awards, Prizes and Research Achievements

Congratulations to the following members of the School community: 

  • Kirsten Mann was awarded the Australasian Association of Philosophy Annette Baier Prize for 2026 (given each year for an outstanding philosophical paper by an Australasian woman published in the previous calendar year) for her paper Aggregation and the Large Numbers Objection.
  • Corey McCabe’s paper ‘Philosophical Anarchism with Teeth’ was selected as the winner of the annual postgraduate essay prize by the high-ranking journal, Res Publica, and will be published in a later issue.
  • Magdalen Elmitt won the 2026 AAP Postgraduate Presentation Prize for her paper “Higher-order Evidence and Bayesian Orthodoxy” (congratulations also to Corey McCabe who was shortlisted).
  • Rachael Brown has been shortlisted for the Australasian Association of Philosophy Media Prize. The winner will be announced in September.
  • Nic Southwood, Bob Goodin, and Lea Ypi received a grant from the Templeton Foundation’s PPE Research Consortium for their project, Taboos: Their Nature, Ethics, and Place in Politics.
